I am from the United Kingdom and I am 36 years of age. From the age of four I unfortunately had a speech impediment known as stuttering. This impediment basically ruined my life for eighteen years before I finally managed to overcome the stutter. This article is all about stuttering or as some people call it stammering.
Stammering or stuttering can have a dramatic effect on somebodys confidence and it certainly seemed to my crush mine. It made me accept second best in life and stopped me living my life as I wanted to.
I have no doubt that it must be extremely hard for a fluent person to be able to realise just how difficult life can be for someone that has a stammer/stutter.
I now run one to one speech courses which are held in Birmingham. A couple of years ago one of my clients told me about a situation he had been involved in. He and his friends went to a bar one Saturday afternoon to have a few drinks. After a couple of pints he went up to the bar to order himself a drink. Unfortunately he could not speak all of the words fluently and the barman accused him of being drunk and refused to serve him. He stated to the bar worker that he was not intoxicated and that he actually had a speech impediment – the bar man just thought he was lying though.
When he got back to the table, his mates enquired as to where his pint was. He told them what had happened, this itself was very embarressing.
Whether you are work selling external doors or if you offer cheap calls; effective communication is essential to all of us. Unfortunately for some, like myself in the past, stuttering can have a dramatic impact on our lives.
Steve runs The How to Stop Stuttering Centre in the UK where he offers a one-to-one intensive therapy course helping people to achieve fluency.

Have you heard about the latest therapy for stammering? This is what is known as specialist stammering therapy. Why? The reason for this is because the speech coach is a person that has previously had a stammer.
Steve Hill, aged 35 and from Birmingham, UK, developed a stammer when he was just four years of age. Despite attending the many different forms of speech and language therapy classes for many years the stammer continued to plague his life until he was aged twenty-two.
Steve had an ambition and a big one at that, to overcome his stammer. Steve was told by his local speech and language therapist that there was not a cure for stammering but despite this he continued on his quest to achieve fluency.
He was informed on numerous occasions that there is not a cure for stammering however Steve just would not accept second best in life. Negative thinking is for losers is the attitude that he believes in.
Steve eventually managed to overcome his stammer at the age of 22 after formulating his own fluency techniques.
He now teaches these techniques to other people who stutter and does this via a one-to-one stuttering help course. As well as the specialised stuttering therapy courses Steve also offers a self-help DVD, an audio book and an e-book.
Stammering and Stuttering affects many people from all over the world. There are many ways to approach such a issue and it is always a good idea to do as much research as possible.
There is full back up provided where people are able to telephone Steve to ask him any questions that arise.
Steve:
“In the past I often dreamt about what life would be like as a fluent person. Now that I am able to speak free from the fear of stuttering I have to say that it feels even better than what I had imagined to be. I am now able to reach my full potentail in life”.

I am confident that the majority of the readers of this article will have and heard about various courses for stuttering. At the present time people are having to wait around 6 months to attend such a course due to their popularity. These courses are not suitable for everyone, there are a lot of people who stutter that do not have the confidence to attend one of these stammering courses, especially the courses that are held on a group basis. There are, however, a number of self-help therapy options available which enables these people to gain access to the fluency techniques.
So what are the options available for people who are unable to attend a stuttering course? Well there are a number of self-help products which are available including:
1. E-books
2. Audio books
3. DVD’s
4. A combination of the above
The price of these products often range from twenty to sixty pounds or forty to sixty dollars.
The most popular product is the seventy minute stuttering therapy DVD where people are able to visually watch the speech coach explaining and describing all of the techniques.
When purchasing one of these products it is important to ask yourself the following question:
Does the seller offer the option of additional support and help if I require it?
This is essential as it is likely that you will have a couple of questions after watching the DVD, listening to the audio book or reading the e-book. This form of stuttering help is available for as long as is necessary.
If the seller is not offering this service then it probably is not worth buying their product.
Steve Hill runs The How To Stop Stuttering Centre in the UK. Steve had a stutter from the ages of four until the age of twenty-two before finally managing to achieve total fluency. That was fully fourteen years ago. Steve is now thirty-six and is fully appreciative of the stuttering-free life that he now now enjoys.

It can be a very worrying time for parents who realise that their child has started stuttering. Not all people who have a stutter have it from childhood. I have met quite a number of people who were fluent in childhood, however started to stutter when they were an adult. So what causes a stutter?
There are many reasons people start stuttering in the first place. These are some of them:
A very stressful or traumatic incident can result in a person starting to stutter/stammer.
A family member may have a stutter, and they have picked up the bad speaking habits.
Mimicking a person who lives in the neighbourhood or who attends the same school that has a stutter.
An over aggressive relative who is not very patient.
A few years ago, I had a female client who explained how she had developed a stutter. She had been fluent until the age of twenty four. At this age she became pregnant for the first time, she was very happy and excited about the prospects of motherhood and was certainly not prepared of what would happen next.
She was quite nervous about giving birth of the baby and her friends had been winding her up telling her how painful the experience is. She realised that they were only trying to wind her up and basically ignored them.
The day of the birth arrived and unfortunately the delivery was particulary long and difficult. She was extremely shocked about how bad it actually was and for whatever reason she developed a stutter after the birth of the baby, who was a healthy boy.
There are also people who only develop a stutter when they are an adult – I have met a large number of people who this has happened to and for a wide range of reasons. At this age he had a car crash and this was the trigger to him starting to stutter.
The How To Stop Stammering Centre is run by Steve Hill who himself had a stammer until he managed to overcome the speech impediment at the age of twenty-two. He offers a wide range of treatments for stammering including a one-to-one course as well as self-help products.

Do you have a stutter? Does one of your children have a stutter? Do you know somebody who has a stutter? This article is all about the speech impediment known as stuttering or stammering. It includes stuttering advice and also treatments which are available to help people who stutter to achieve fluency.
Stuttering is a much larger problem than many people think. Latest research suggests that as many as one percent of the population of the UK has a stuttering problem and that around eighty percent of these people are male.
I had a stutter for eighteen years. I have been informed that I started stuttering when I was only four years of age. I regularly attended speech therapy over the next fourteen years before deciding that it was unlikely to ever help me to achieve fluency.
There are a great deal of people who have become very good at hiding the fact that they have a speech impediment. They have stated that most of the people that they know are not even aware that they have a speech impediment. Some people may well think that it is some what easier for a person with this type of stutter – but this is not always the case. To keep up with hiding and avoiding the stutter is far from easy and takes a huge amount of energy. Life is tough no matter what form of stutter one has.
Other people are not able to hide their stutter in this way and will have what is perceived to be a much more severe stutter – I knew a person who worked for a composite door company who had this form of speech impediment; he did however manage to overcome the problem after attending a stammering cure course.
There are a number of treatments for stuttering including the normal route of speech therapy via the local doctor or hospital. Many people who stutter find this form of therapy very frustrating as there are often long waiting lists, and the sessions are normally quite short and irregular.
There is also private stop stammering treatments in the form of people who have managed to overcome their own stutter. This can be on a one-to-one basis or in a group situation.

At school I was an obvious target for a bully. I had a speech impediment known as a stutter or a stammer. Despite attending different forms of stuttering therapy I was only able to achieve fluency when I was in my twenties.
I was always struggling with my weight and was larger than most of my other classmates and I was the shortest male in the class.
I had hoped that people who I would meet at work would be rather more mature than these school kids – they are adults after all. How wrong could I have been?
There was one main bully who made my life hell, his name was Gary. Gary constantly took the mickey out of myself and would mimmick my stuttering at regular intervals. I tried to not let it bother me, but it did. I let this continue for nearly year and by now I was feeling very depressed and was ready to quit.
I then read a book about the subject of bullying and it wrote about something which they called, playing the nutter card. Basically at for example work, you can be who you want to be. A nutter does not worry about another persons size or weight or power. They are willing to go one step further than the majority of people ane this is they way in which we have to threaten the bully – with belief – this way he/she is more likely to back up – after all they are all supposed to be cowards.
I decided to be brave and give it a go. Trying to fight back in a physical manner was not really an option due to the fact that Gary was probably twice the size of me. He does not know the people in my circle of friends though, I needed to convince him that they could.
On the day when I actually went for it, it had not been planned. I will have to admit that despite really wanting to do this I did not feel that I would have the courage. This day the bullying was very distressing and was in very bad taste. I was really mad and clocked out of work and went to wait by Gary’s car, but hidden behind a tree.
Gary eventually approached his car and went to unlock the door, as he did I jumped on his back but quickly fell off. He turned round with a shocked look on his face, however was happy when he saw that it was me. I started swearing at him and told him that I had had enough. I informed him that a number of my friends are a bit tapped in the head, but that they would do anything to help me. If I told them the abuse he was giving me, they would not be best pleased and would basically beat him to a pulp. I warned him that if he ever took the mickey out of me, that I would tell them and that he would then have to wait for his punishment to take place. I then ran off shaking.
The next day I went to work in a nervous state, I am happy to report he fell for the bait and was as good as gold after that.
I still left the company where I worked around six months later, but it was for the right reasons as I had been made a good offer by a local composite doors company but in the end I opted to work for a business cost reduction specialist. At this workplace I am more than pleased to confirm that everyone is very nice and therefore there is no requirement to play the “nutter card”.

I have succeeded at last. At what you may be asking? Well I have been fighting a war with the voices in my head or my demons as I call them. These are the voices which made me doubt myself; voices which stopped me from becoming a success; voices that were lowering my self-esteem and voices which were basically ruining my life. In this article I will be explaining about the ways in which I managed to win this war; ways which I hope will prove to be an inspiration to others.
I had this voice in my head for many years and I was not really aware of the hold it had over me or its true power until the age of about twenty-one. When thinking about it in a bit more depth I suppose that I actually saw these voices as a kind of a friend rather than an enemy. I am very much aware of just how crazy this sounds now.
I was unfortunate to develop a stutter when I was a young child and this speech impediment would continue to haunt my life until I finally overcame it when I was aged twenty-two. The stuttering had a detremental effect on my overall confidence and was the cause of a great deal of distress. I was more than keen to find a solution to this stuttering problem and of techniques that could enable me to gain self-confidence. This is when I started to really learn about the damaging affect that these demons can have on one’s life.
For many years they would talk to me and would some how manage to convince me to think in a negative manner. These voices advised me to leave school at the age of sixteen which I duly did. They advised me not to put in for a promotion at work as they stated that I would not gain the higher position – I listened to them and therefore did not even apply for the position. Why was I listening to this demonic voice? This was no doubt due to the fact that I had no other options open to me – or at least that is what I thought was the case.
I eventually realised that I needed to basically ignore these voices and that in fact I should do the opposite of what they had advised. This was far from easy in reality and we fought many battles along the way. Victory in this most vicious of wars was eventually mine I am very pleased to announce. I am now in a much better state of mind to have a positive career which at the moment is within the web promotion sector.
Be strong, be positive and wage war on your inner demons – your life and your success depends on it.

Today I am a happy person, I am proud and I am content. Why? Well because I have managed to turn my life around. I am no longer such a needy, self-destructive character with a lack of self-esteem. I now live life with a smile on my face and am very much looking forward to the future. This article will describe how I went about turning my life around; from zero to hero; from depression to happiness and from fear to freedom.
Besides my nervous way of speaking (I had a speech impediment commonly referred to as stuttering), the following areas of confidence coaching were of interest to me:
I had, for whatever reason, a lack of belief at the workplace
For whatever reason I was a person who believed that he would fail every task that he was set
I needed to become much more assertive
I would often get dragged down by negative comments
I was paranoid (at least a subtle feeling) that people don’t like me
I used to walk around as if the world owed me something and would often feel
very sorry for myself
I wanted to be able to speak with authority and presence
I wanted to see fear and anxiety as a challenge and not as a prison cell
I wanted to learn to be self-assured and to be able to feel comfortable in any place, anytime
I wanted to be able to talk to anyone, at anytime and feel completely in control and natural
As you can see I wanted quite a lot! By reading literature about how to gain confidence, how to increase self-confidence and about how to become a success helped me, in some degree, with all of the above. I realised that I needed to be a lot more care-free, I needed to stop worrying about what other people thought of me and I needed to appreciate what I had in life. Only by doing this will I ever have any chance of becoming a success.
I am now a lot more confident and proficient in my business life which is in the training for foster carers sector. It is a good place to be – happy at work and happy at home.

Are you a person who has a stutter? Are you looking for techniques that would enable you to overcome your stutter? If you have answered “yes” to one or both of these questions then this article may well be of interest to you.
The How To Stop Stuttering Centre was established in 1996 by Steve Hill. Steve started to stutter when he was a young child however managed to achieve fluency at the age of twenty-two. Steve states:
“To achieve fluency is far from easy and anybody who is looking for some sort of magic potion or magic pill that they merely swallow to enable them to “stop stuttering” will be left disappointed. Those people however who are willing to work hard and who are determined to kill their stuttering demons will be able to achieve the dream that is fluency”.
Steve mainly helps people by running one-to-one speech courses. The courses are held in Birmingham, England. These specialist stuttering courses are held over a 2, 3 or 5 day period with each day lasting approximately three and a half hours.
Steve also offers alternative stuttering therapies to the speech course. These therapies are more what you would call “self-help stuttering therapy” and include an e-book, a DVD and an audio book. These products come with full descriptions of the “stuttering therapy techniques”.
Steve has helped people from many different nations including India, Pakistan, England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, the USA and Australia.
Steve has appeared in a number of national newspapers including the Daily Telegraph and the Guardian.
It is suggested that out of all of the people that suffer with stuttering there are three times as many men as women that have this form of speech impediment. The stuttering centre in the UK helps all people to achieve fluency whether they are adults or children, women or men.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact the stuttering centre.

What are the most popular treatments for stuttering? Are you able to overcome a stutter and achieve fluency? How long does it take to achieve fluency? Are there any specialist courses for stuttering that I can attend? Where can I find out more information about how to cure a stutter? These are questions that I am asked on a daily basis and ones which I will be answering in this article.
My name is Stephen Hill and I am a speech coach from the UK. I am somebody who successfully managed to overcome his own stutter when I was aged twenty-two. I have now enjoyed fluency for the last thirteen years.
The main form of therapy that I offer comes in the form of a specialised speech course for stuttering. The courses are on a one-to-one basis which in my opinion is essential. The courses are held in Birmingham, England and are held over a two, three or five day period.
The most popular form of therapy that I offer; however; happens to be the seventy minute stuttering cure DVD. This film includes a lot of information including those all important techniques that I used to eradicate my own stutter.
People are also able to buy an audio book and a stuttering therapy e-book.
Over the last few months I have introduced a couple of new stuttering therapy options; the first is fluency coaching over the telephone and the second is stuttering therapy via Skype. These are also starting to become very popular.
The majority of the people who contact me; whether it be via e-mail, telephone or letter are from the United Kingdom however I do receive a lot of interest from the United States, India, Australia, Ireland, Pakistan, Norway and New Zealand. I have a blog at blog.stammering-stuttering.co.uk which has a map that shows people where the visitors to the site are located. This is something that is quite interesting to keep a track of from time to time.
If you have any queries please do not hesitate to contact me.
