Canada’s Maritime Weather

The weather is a pretty common topic in talks between folks around the Bay of Fundy. Neighbors love to discuss the weather, probably since the Bay of Fundy’s coastal climate is incredibly tough to predict. Visitors must be aware the Bay of Fundy is a four season destination.

Winter (December-March)

During the winter temperatures may range all the way from -10 C to 4 C (14 F to 40 F). Daytime temperatures are usually hotter and temperatures start to warm up near the end of the season. Snow is likely throughout the season. As a result, many seasonal tourism attractions and services are shut down throughout the winter months. That being said, the winter remains a unique time to visit the Bay of Fundy. Many events, urban entertainment, accommodations, spas, shopping, museums, and winter activities (snow shoeing, snowboarding, skiing, and snowmobiling for example) remain available throughout the winter.

Spring (March -June)

In the spring season temperatures can range from -5 C to 22 C (23 F to 72 F). Daytime temperatures are sometimes warmer. Temperatures gradually warm up as the season advances and by the end of April the winter’s snow is generally gon. Around the start of May the plants and trees start to bloom. The majority or tourism related attractions and services open by the first of May.

Summer (June-September)

Throughout the summer temperatures may range from 10 C to 25 C (50 F to 77 F). Temperatures during the day are sometimes warmer. Nearing the end of the season temperatures start to get cooler. All tourism related attractions and services are open and in full swing in the summer (except for the ski hills naturally).

Fall (September-December)

During the fall months temperatures will range all the way from approximately 2 C to 20 C (36 F to 68 F). Temperatures during the day are generally warmer. Trees begin to turn colour in early October and they will have lost their leaves by the end of October. Temperatures cool down as the season advances. Chances of snow in this season become more likely in late November and in December. A lot of tourism related attractions and services remain open till the middle or end of October.
